This lighting installation, a crystal ‘brain’ composed of 272 acrylic cubes, was designed to symbolize the contrast and harmony between the left and right brain through the integration of light, sound, and art. As project manager and lighting designer, our team was responsible for securing sponsorships, obtaining engineering approvals, managing production and installation, and overseeing on-site maintenance. Despite the challenges posed by the sculpture’s complexity, extreme weather conditions, and logistical hurdles with transportation and storage, the project gained significant recognition. We successfully secured sponsorships from major enterprises such as Hitachi, Apple, Huawei, Xiaomi, and PAK Lighting, and received coverage from 10 media outlets. The sculpture was also selected as one of the top nine designs at the 2017 Lighting Sculpture Design Awards and was later exhibited at NeuRA during Mental Health Week after its debut at Vivid Sydney.
